I spent weeks selling toffee peanuts door to door so I could earn enough money for extra weeks at camp. He is very much an outdoor lover, a kayaker, and an avid swimmer but his eyes light up when we start talking about going to San Francisco to do pro-life activism for 10 days. Last week I wrote a commentary about my 31 years as a punk rock, pro-life activist and why I have dedicated my life to this work. Last year after taking Jaemison to camp for just a few days I was excited to see how passionate he became about pro-life.
Abortion was sold as the panacea to cure all societal problems. Just when was this supposed to take effect?
Forty-one years later, we are still waiting. By any and every measure, society is worse off. No kids, no strife, happy life. Just the opposite came to pass.
The thinking went that children or the threat of having children subordinated women to their domineering men. By removing the possibility of offspring, the women would be equal to men.
This would end their supposed second-class citizenship, we were told. Instead, women went from a lofty, noble position of being the primary caregivers to children, to being sexual objects.
By forfeiting their ability to bear children, women gave up their greatest, physical difference to men. The rate of men using them for sexual gratification and abusing them or discarding them has exploded. They claimed abortion would mean no children would be born to socioeconomically poor conditions.
Every child allowed to survive until his birthday would be loved on and cared for. Then when you look at the percentage of kids in orphanages, you see this promise went unfulfilled. In a society where children are unvalued, it is no surprise they pay the price for the sexual exploits of their parents.
Less mouths to feed was supposed to mean greater economic success for the underprivileged. This was one of the promised positive effects of abortion on society. Last I checked, poverty remains. The rate of people living below the poverty line remains high. So much for solving these woes by bringing death to children.
But hey, who could have seen that coming? I could keep going, citing more and more examples. But the fact remains, abortion has not solved anything.

The issues she takes on are crucial―not solely the subject areas of reproductive rights and law, or public policy lenses and judicial impact in women’s and children’s lives.
The pro-life vs. pro-choice debate tends to overlook the fact that the vast majority of women who have abortions do not do so by choice, at least not entirely. Circumstances put them in a position where abortion is the least self-destructive option available. Now, as social trends move toward abortion reduction, people can regard the adoption of a pro-life position as joining a positive trend, one that speaks well of America as a country.
The ways in which we are motivated to be in sync with social changes mean that all kinds of pro-life . Unfortunately, the two sides cannot agree on when personhood is attained. Most pro-life groups believe it happens at conception and are thus generally opposed to all elective abortions.
The term "pro-life" was adopted instead of "anti-abortion" to highlight their proponents' belief that abortion is the taking of a human life, rather than an issue concerning .
