Ten weeks ago, I entered your class as an immature writer that was ready to gain the knowledge to become a successful writer. My portfolio is a clear demonstration of the growing transition my writing went through. My first essay was a five paragraph mess. The following weeks allowed me to learn skills to develop persuasive essays.
At first during week one, I thought the reading and writing prompts were simple to follow but everything changed after week two. The constant confusion I was in allowed me to strengthen my writing as I understood what rhetorical analysis was, which is the main purpose of this course.
The first five weeks have made an impact on my writing, as they have allowed me to identify the mistakes I was making through the multiple assignments and class discussions that as result have allowed me to create work of a higher quality.
In particular when using the rhetorical triangle and an other visuals such as how to convey a proper message within a letter AGWR, 5. This allowed me to have a clearer idea of how rhetoric worked and I began to apply it within my writing.
I did asses what emphasis each writer made but I lacked the analysis and evidence such as quotations.
The use of quotation would have made my argument strong, but I needed to state why the writer used certain techniques as well. During the peer editing process my group allowed me to notice all inconsistencies within my thesis. Having a small group gave us an advantage as we did not feel rushed no to go over the work.
Rather, I was provided with ideas on how to make my writing better. Such as the arrangement of my introduction paragraph which had the thesis within the first sentence. I had to add background information and define certain terms I was using within the RA.
The AGWR was a great reference since it has provided clear examples of how to create our papers. This guide showed me how to properly transition into quotes and provide an analysis for them as well. Though I believe my writing has improved I understand there are still more skills I need work on.
Writing 37 has a large workload but this has allowed me to practice on what I have learned. Providing adequate rhetorical analysis in my work is something I aspire to have achieved by the end of this course.
Everything learned in this class can be applied to other courses which I will apply to after I achieve work of higher quality. The Anteater's Guide to Writing and Rhetoric [Kat Eason] on monstermanfilm.com *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.
